Short Bio:

Draw back the Veil and peer into the realm of the Unseelie with dark folk bards, Fae as Folk. This all-female four-piece combines captivating folklore, ethereal harmonies and compelling instrumentation to take you on a journey of song and story.

Fae as Folk Fable:

Summer 2022

Fae as Folk is born! Gabi and Alicia start performing their unique versions of traditional folk songs and shanties at pub open mics around Brighton.

Winter 2022

Gabi and Alicia play their first full-length set at a Winter Solstice celebration at the Druid’s Arms pub in Brighton.

 

They also start writing original material, using dark faerie folklore from across Europe as their inspiration.

Spring 2023

Fae as Folk receive their first radio play via an interview at Brighton and Hove Community Radio.

Emily joins Fae as Folk as the duo’s compere, energising their live shows with introductions, interludes, and three-part harmonies.

 

Together Fae as Folk play their first festival dates at Sussex Faerie Festival and Swordpunk.

Summer 2023

Fae as Folk play at Three Wishes Faerie Festival alongside Damh the Bard, the Dolmen and PerKelt.

 

In August they release their debut EP, Fae Queens and Langoustines, onto all streaming services.
 

Autumn 2023

Fae as Folk play at Magic Camp in Alfriston, the Canterbury Magical Market, Blackberry Fair in Whitchurch, Karen Kay's Glastonbury Witchy Fae Ball, and a Halloween event at Butser Ancient Farm.

Back in Brighton, they play a sold-out gig at Brighton’s Folklore Rooms with The Witchcraft and Vagrancy Act and The Bedford Celts.

Winter 2023

Fae as Folk release their first single, Coven, for the Winter Solstice.

Madi officially joins the band, bringing drums, bass, space drum and jaw harp into the mix and helping to establish the band’s iconic sound.
 

Spring 2024

In March Fae as Folk play their first gig as a full lineup, supporting The Golden Apple at the Fantasy Folk Extravaganza at the Folklore Rooms.

In April they begin recording their debut album, Coven at their home studio in Brighton.

In May Fae as Folk perform at Butser Ancient Farm’s Beltane Burn, Sussex Faerie Fest (alongside The Captain’s Beard, Ravenhymn and PerKelt) and Swordpunk.
 

Summer 2024

Fae as Folk release their debut album, Coven, at a sold-out launch party in Brighton’s Folklore Rooms.

 

They go on to play at Stonehenge Solsticefest, Fantasy Forest Festival, Three Wishes Fairy Festival, and Kent's Magical Market and Ball.
